Proximity Sensors
Proximity sensors are able to detect the presence of nearby objects without any physical contact. They typically emit an electromagnetic field or beam of electromagnetic radiation (such as infrared) and look for changes in the field or return signals. The object being sensed is often referred to as the target of the proximity sensor. Different proximity sensor targets require different sensors. Since there are no mechanical parts and no physical contact between the sensor and the sensing object, proximity sensors have high reliability and long service life.
